Mudhugger fenders brought such a small revolution to protection against mud in MTB. Their creators, brothers Bruce and Jamie Gardiner, have been cycling in the UK since the late 1980s. During that time, they enjoyed the famous English mud more than enough and used the fenders over which they would turn up their noses in most of the rest of the world. But when the full suspension wheels and telescopic seatposts arrived, the fenders of the current concept ceased to work.
The Gardiners wanted to continue riding with a relatively dry butt, so in 2014 they developed the Mudhugger - fenders that are located close to the circumference of the tire. Since then, Mudhugger fenders have become the market leader. The front fenders are used by world-class riders in both DH and Enduro competitions. Riders who are reluctant to hang a bike on a nail with the first umbrella are increasingly reaching for the rear fenders.
